Installing the Utility
Peltier Tech Charts for Excel is a standard Excel add-in, so it is installed following the standard add-in installation protocol. This protocol differs slightly among Excel versions.
1. Distribution Package
Peltier Tech Charts for Excel is distributed in a zip file, PeltierTechCharts40.zip
, which contains:
PeltierTechCharts40.xlam
, the Excel add-in file;PeltierTechChartsEULA.txt
, the end user license agreement; andPeltierTechChartsREADME.txt
, a read-me file with installation and contact information.Peltier Tech Charts for Excel Sample Data.xlsx
, an Excel workbook with sample data for all of the charts.
2. Add-In Directory
Create a new directory for which you have read and write access permissions.
In Windows, the most convenient location is the User Add-In Library:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns
where USERNAME
is the name of your Windows account, or this for short:
%appdata%\Microsoft\AddIns
Any add-in stored in the User Add-In Library directory will automatically appear in the Add-Ins dialog without having to install it first, eliminating the need to browse to find it during installation. Also, the User Add-In Library directory can be made into a Trusted Location using the following protocol. Once the User Add-In Library is a Trusted Location, any add-ins can be installed from this location without having to be unblocked.
You may instead use any convenient folder for which you have read and write access permissions, such as
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Peltier Tech
or
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Peltier Tech
On the Mac, there is no User Library, so use a convenient folder location like
HD:Users:USERNAME:Documents:Peltier Tech
Unzip the files into this new folder.
3. Unblock the Add-In Workbook (Windows)
