Examples of Peltier Tech Projects

Peltier Tech has worked on numerous Excel projects for third party clients. These clients come from small and large organizations, in manufacturing, finance, government, and the military. This is a brief summary of some of these projects.

Most of these projects were worked by Peltier Tech alongside the client, which guarantees that results will meet the client’s requirements.

The Business Model Builder is an extensive VBA- and template-based project for the New Business Development department of a large multinational corporation. At its core, the project consisted of a series of Excel templates plus an Excel VBA add-in with user defined functions and tools to manage the templates. To start a new business model, the user clicks a button, and a template is opened, showing sheets for background information and assumptions, plus a cover page. To perform one of over a dozen separate analyses about the model, the user selects the analysis, and a new sheet is inserted with the computations and charts for the analysis, driven by data populated by the user. The time to build such a model was reduced from one or more weeks to mere days.

Excel Statistical Process Control is a commercial tool used in manufacturing to monitor and improve manufacturing processes. Peltier Tech helped a client upgrade his existing VBA add-in in several ways: the custom ribbon tab and dialogs in its interface were improved, charting was expanded to some chart types and features that the client wasn’t able to accomplish, and automatic downloading and installation of upgrades were incorporated.

The Concrete Mix Analyzer is another upgrade of a client’s VBA project. The existing VBA project included databasing of input materials as well as existing and new mixtures, along with complex Solver optimizations of concrete mixtures to meet customer requirements. Peltier Tech helped to build a custom ribbon interface, streamline the Solver operations, and make the entire program more robust.

The Monthly Marketing Reporter is the result of a project with a client who used to spend two weeks of every month compiling reports for his clients. An Excel add-in was built that imported the client’s data (compiled monthly by an intern), built pivot tables to analyze the data, created charts to display the results, and exported tables and charts into a report template in Word. The client’s monthly efforts on his reports was reduced from two weeks to one day.

The XYZ Bank Report Formatter is an Excel add-in that provided features for incorporating corporate color themes into Excel workbooks, applying preferred color and other styles to charts, and constructing tables with desired formatting, all in preparation for importing into the company’s PowerPoint presentations to its own customers. The add-in was rolled out across the marketing departments of a large multinational bank. Its features were accessed through a custom tab on Excel’s ribbon. A colleague built a similar add-in that functioned directly within PowerPoint.
