At the beginning of December I announced the new Peltier Tech Box and Whisker Chart Utility. It has been available for an introductory price of $30, but the price will revert to its regular price of $40 as of 1 January 2009.
The Box and Whisker Utility takes your raw data and outputs a table of statistics and a chart onto a new worksheet. The utility produces box plots in three styles: Box and Whisker Quartile Chart, Four Box Quartile Chart, and Box and Whisker Chart with Outliers.

Each of these box plot styles is available in vertical (column) and horizontal (bar) orientations.

In the finished chart, the user has the option to display or hide the averages, show or hide outliers (if the outlier style was selected), and choose among four methods to calculate quartiles. In addition, a box plot is a regular Excel chart, so with care, a user can customize its formatting. In addition, there is a VBA function which the user can call to build box plots programmatically.
In addition to the professional version of the box and whisker chart utility, there is a free demo version of the utility which creates simple vertical box and whisker style charts without the extensive options described above. More details about the utility can be found in the Documentation page. Go to PTS Box and Whisker Plot Utility to see a comparison of the demo and professional versions of this utility, and to download the free version or purchase the professional version of this utility.
